Finally much awaited Mobile Number Portability (MNP) service will be launched almost through out India. Users will be able to switch between mobile service provider without changing their current mobile number by using the Mobile Number Portability offered by service providers.
Mobile Number Portability will enable India's over 600 million mobile phone users to switch to their preferred network provider without any hasseles, and this time Mobile Number Portability will be offered at a price of Rs.19.

MNP is implemented in different ways across the globe. The international and European standard is for a customer wishing to port his/her number to contact the new provider (Recipient) who will then arrange necessary process with the old provider (Donor). This is also known as 'Recipient-Led' porting.
