Veteran Congress leader and former Kerala chief minister K. Karunakaran, hospitalised in Thiruvananthapuram for fever, was on Monday put on a ventilator after his condition became “slightly worrisome”.
He has breathlessness and his blood count is low. His kidneys are also not functioning properly, a doctor said.Karunakaran was admitted to a private hospital here following fever December 10.
“The condition of the 93-year-old leader was slightly worrisome and he has been given ventilator support since this afternoon,” a doctor at the Aananthapuri Hospital said.Mr. Karunakaran had been diagnosed with chest and urinary infection, hospital sources said.
